Trying to mount 3 large graphs, correctly, is a tough task. Last year I used an over/under mount along with a ram mount to the side. This option worked, but left a lot to be desired. When I saw Precision Sonar come out with the "Triple Threat" option, I knew this was the answer to my questions. The pictures show a test install of everything. I didn't tighten it all down yet, just needed to know it all fit correctly and was going to work. I installed the new graphs just to see how it would all hold but still have some wiring and odds and ends to clean up before the final install.
With an early ice out, it was the perfect time to get the boat out and dial some things in. We took Lyal's Phoenix to South Dakota for the day. We were both anxious to try out the new Minn Kota Raptors. They held great, look great and were very quiet. By having the Ultrex with spot lock, it allowed us to move to the 8' Raptors and not miss the 12' Talons as much. They look fantastic and are going to be a welcome addition to our boats this season. The water was in the low to mid 40's and dirty. Recent rain and snow melt had a lot of runoff causing these issues. After the first stop we decided to try a lake we had only been to a couple times before. We ran around scanning some small contour changes off the main shore, and once we found the scattered rock and gravel with a little grass mixed in we knew there would be some fish around. We had to mix up the presentations until we found what they wanted. Small little 1/8 swimbaits, slowly reeled along the bottom in 8-10' of water put some nice bass in the boat. When your lids don't have carpet, there is nothing to keep the lids down and tight. On my cooler and other surrounding lids, I needed an easy way to hold them down and still look good. I ordered a black strap and a button kit. I made the short straps and installed the buttons to give my lids a custom look and hold them tight.
